The monastery in Votice was built in 1625 and in 1631 it became the property of the Franciscan Order. After World War II it was nationalized by the Communists and in 2012 it was returned to the town's ownership.
After an extensive renovation, two wings were opened in 2015. Now it features various exhibitions - about the town's history, the lives of well-known personalities, the history of the monastery and the Franciscan Order and various seasonal exhibitions. There is also an interactive exhibition for children about the Battle of Jankov. In the wing adjacent to the Church of St. Francis you can see the Gallery of Sacred Art, which was created through the activity of the Parish of Votice and the Association for saving the Monastery of St. Francis of Assisi.
