Loučeň Chateau

The Loučeň Chateau had many different owners, however, the most important ones were three noble families – the House of Waldstein, Fürstenberg and Thurn-Taxis. The atmosphere of the richly decorated interiors with original furnishings will take you back many years in time. To the days when the members of the last named family lived there. The park with garden mazes and labyrinths is a great attraction.

The Waldstein family acquired Loučeň after the Bohemian Revolt. After that it was never sold again, the Fürstenberg and Thurn-Taxis families acquired it through their marriage policies. Its current look was designed by the famous Baroque architect František Maxmilián Kaňka. The current condition of the chateau interiors and expositions in the chambers date back to 1935. Visitors can see the original contents of the house, complemented with historic furniture and everyday objects used by the Thurn-Taxis family. There are twelve different and inventive labyrinths and mazes in the chateau park. The chateau offers accommodation, either in the chateau suites, or in the adjacent Maxmilian Lifestyle Resort hotel.
